About Vanessa

Vanessa started yoga in 2013 and unknowingly began to repair more than a decade of disassociation with her body. Drawing from many lineages (Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa, Jivamukti) Vanessa’s teaching intuitively delivers what would most serve the student in that moment.

 

Revisit traditional asana (postures) with a fresh insight and flowing creative sequence. Each class begins and ends with stillness, cultivating a mindfulness and curiosity and to all that is encountered in-between.

 

Grateful for the expansive yoga community in London, whilst exploring its many iterations Vanessa found Yin Yoga and in it the perfect opportunity to escape the bustle so needed in urban modernity. Her particular flavour of Yin weaves breathwork, visualisation, meditation, Chinese medicine understanding and yogic philosophy amongst a backdrop of longer held poses.

Yoga is an ancient technology finding necessity in the modern world. By reversing the outward flow of awareness we use this tool to better perceive ourselves and in turn our reality.

 

The word yoga itself means ‘union’ indicating it’s great aim; to integrate all parts of a person, an ability to focus the mind, balance the emotional body and build physical strength and flexibility. Though many people think of yoga only as physical exercises, these are actually only the beginning of this profound science of unfolding the infinite potentials of the human mind and soul.

Events

Yoga at the Natural History Museum

These events in collaboration with East of Eden and the Natural History Museum do not stop WOW'ing me and everyone else that attends. 


Opening with 15 minutes of Breathwork led by Aimee Hartley of The Breathing Room under the lungs of Hope the Blue Whale, followed by 40 minutes of accessible Yoga by me and a 15 minute Gong Bath in the resonance of the Hintz Hall.

The event runs before the museum opens its doors for the day on Sundays from 8:00am with half an hour following to explore the museum before it opens.
Tickets are on sale for January 19th and March 29th 2020.

 

Yin Yoga to Live Music by Hinako Omori with East of Eden at Attune, Waterloo

Am very excited to be collaborating with East of Eden to offer Yin Yoga to to a backdrop of synthesised sounds created by Hinako Omori at Attune on Thursday eve Dec 5th.

Attune will take place in an art gallery on the 13th floor of a building next to Waterloo station with amazing views of the city at night. We’ll slow right down and yield in passive poses, music enlivening the senses whilst you ease into a relaxed and receptive state flying hiiiiigh above the city.

Hinako’s tracks are a sonic exploration of space, haziness and transformation, building on layers of synths and vocals. BOOK YOUR TICKET HERE. 

Ritual, Rest & Reset - A Yin Yoga Workshop

The new moon is the first lunar phase which marks a beginning – the perfect time to plot the next step forward. Pausing to reflect can break the monotony of a busy city life.


In this workshop, we will journal to map out what has passed and what we may look forward to and broach the significance of how lunar cycles might reflect our day-to-day living. This will be followed by a Yin Yoga practice, before settling down into a guided relaxation and meditation.


This workshop is suited for all ages and abilities.
*Please bring a journal and pen.

Spring Weekend Retreat! 

I’m really excited to be invited to holding space with Natalie Owen on her retreat in Oxford. The weekend runs from Friday 27th - Sunday 29th to mark the transition of winter to spring. 

While Natalie will lead you through the bulk of embodied flow yoga practices on this nourishing weekend, so close to London, while I’m bringing my signature Yin to the delight that is Poundon House.

Katies Mindful Kitchen will be serving deliciously nourishing AND tasty food and Briony Soundsmith is bringing her crystal singing bowls so we can rebalance from the most physical to subtle aspects of ourselves. Optional Reiki or massage is available on site.
